ROGLAB – THE FACTORY THAT IS MAKING ITSELF

Exhibition of prototypes

19.12.2013

The first annual exhibition of the year's RogLab production is on show at Breg 22 in the centre of Ljubljana. The exhibition presents selected prototypes that RogLab has developed in cooperation with its programme partners. The diversity of  prototypes reflects the many veried of themes that were addressed during our first year of operation, as well as the high interest in testing out different technologies in the field of fast prototyping offered at the RogLab workspace. Warmly welcome!

Numerous prototypes were developed during the first year of RogLab's operation, 10 of which will be represented at the exhibition. Forty-three designers, engineers, technicians, architects and artists cooperated in the production process.

While promoting cycling culture RogLab supported the development of two prototypes – the cycling lamp and the multi-purpose cycling bag; research of modernistic architecture resulted in didactic architectural puzzles; thinking about sustainable development led to a modular garden box; questioning the accessibility of production tools led to the creation of an affordable motorised camera; the robotic sonic partner and the drawing robot for children emerged from a combination of creativity and technology; supporting young creative minds encouraged the development of the electronic gadget; testing the advantages and limitations of contemporary technologies and materials for producing museum souvenirs led to an innovative cross between  embroidery and the common everyday postcard. Over the past year RogLab also dealt with cultural and spatial policies and practices, which inspired a social game that eases the decision making process in cultural management. The active interest in urban culture can be "held responsible" for the folding quarterpipe, with which you can practice urban sports even in rural settings.

The exhibition RogLab – the factory that is making itself will be on display until 16 January. In the second week of January individual projects will be presented at the exhibition space. This will provide an excellent opportunity for a debate and a Q&A session with the creators.

The exhibition was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia and the City Municipality of Ljubljana.

The exhibiton was sponsored by ESAL d.o.o., Event Lighting, RPS, Singer Service, Tiskarna Grafos.
