The portable bicycle lamp is a product created in RogLab’s Creative Challenge, which was initiated by the cycling and cultural association Muslauf. It is based on a sketch by Tina Šimenc that was chosen from among the design proposals we received. The workshop participants developed it under the mentorship of Tilen Sepič who led the entire design process, from the conception of the idea to the quick prototyping phase. The prototype was made in a series of 10 pieces – one for each workshop participant. The lamp is made from transparent PLA biodegradable material that diffuses the LED light. The casing is designed so that it enables a quick and simple change of a standard 2032 battery. The lamp turns on automatically when attached to the bicycle using the supplied rubber band, and turns off only when detached from the bicycle. This helps us to not forget the lamp on the bicycle and also prevents it from turning itself on when we’re not using it, while being carried around in our bag, for instance.
