The world of composites is extremely vast and diverse, and they are no longer found only in the fancy bodywork of expensive sports cars. Rather, we encounter composite structures in our everyday lives: you might already own a bicycle made of these materials, they’re used extensively in planes, and you might even stand on surfaces made of composite materials whenever you take a shower.
The workshop is intended for designers, architects, engineers, artists, makers and all those who are curious about the advantages and disadvantages of composites and their use. In order to better understand these intriguing materials, the lecture will be followed by a practical demonstration: as we’ll get our hands dirty, you might not want to wear your favourite clothing. We will also be glad to help you develop concrete ideas for composite products.
The workshop is performed by the company AFormX and organised by RogLab.
We would kindly ask all workshop participants to visit the compohub.eu website before starting the practical part of the course. You should register as new user and take the A-B-C of Composites course in English. At the course, you will learn about different materials, as well as the chapter on manual lamination, which is the basic technique for making composites. Use of the portal is free for workshop participants.
